Welcome Home Emily Hamilton

Long standing CFSC member Emily Hamilton is returning from a tour in Kuwait/Iraq. She has been a member since 1999, has skated in our Holiday Competitions and Ice Shows, and was a member of Blazing Blades and Team Vitesse. Glad to see you are home safely.

Congratulations Lindsay Ream

New CFSC member Lindsay Ream placed 1st in both the short program and free skate in Intermediate Ladies Group A at Skate Chatauqua in Jamestown NY. She was the only CFSC skater at Skate Chatauqua. Lindsay transferred and joined CFSC as her home club in July 2011. We are pleased to have her represent the club.

Congratulations Alexie Mieskoski

Alexie Mieskoski placed first in both the Junior Ladies short program and free skate at the Troy Competition 2011. As a result, she was awarded the Ellin Jenkins Memorial Trophy. This trophy is awarded to one Junior, Novice or Intermediate skater, providing the event has five or more skaters, who has the highest total mark (IJS) after competing in both the short program and free skating. Congratulations to Alexie.

Test Results March 19th

One of the advantages of the being a member of the Columbus Figure Skating Club is that several members are certified judges. This allows the club to offer more afordable test fees.

Fifth Figure Test

Jennifer Tieche for passed her Fifth Figure Test on March 18th.
Congratulations to Jennifer on her accomplishment and to Kristen Izzie, her coach.
The Fifth Figure test entails eight figures and takes about 45 minutes to complete. Jennifer passed the Second Figure Test as a young skater when figure tests were required as a prerequisite for Free Skate tests.
She decided to return to the challenge of this very difficult aspect of the sport and passed the Third and Fourth Figure tests prior to today's test.
Last year there were two Third Figure tests in the U.S., neither of which passed. There were no Fourth Figure or Fifth Figure tests attempted.

The Junior Nationals!!!

Two skaters from the Columbus Figure Skating Club were at the Junior Nationals. Livvy Shilling and Jonathan Butler are pictured here with thier coaches at the send off Party.

Livvy came in 12th in the qualifying round.
Jonathan came in 10th in the qualifying round. He went on to the final round and placed 16th.

CFSC wins Troy Trophy

The Columbus Figure Skating Club won the team trophy for total points at the Troy competition this past weekend. This result reflects the contributions of everyone from the very top level to the Basic Skills skaters. Congratulations to you all. Our coaches also deserve recognition for their important contributions to the development of our skaters. Thank you all.
